8/1/2018 0 Comments IN STUDIO NOWApologies for the delay, it’s been an emotional and extremely busy 20-something hours. With so much on the line, I got a little behind on planning what to do after the campaign ended since I wasn’t sure if we’d be going to the studio or not!
Well, I’m taking a break from packing up the van to write this. I’m in Birmingham, it’s only a 2 1/2 hour drive up to Muscle Shoals. Can’t lie, I’m nervous. It’s a good nervous though, the kind that makes you go over every detail to make sure everything is right. It’s a creative nervous. It’s a good place to be. Holy crap. Am I dreaming? Who knows. We actually did it! When I first began to plan this, well over a year ago, I discussed many details with many people. The same goal number kept coming up in different conversations. It seemed too big. It literally made me nauseous to say out loud. But the more I looked at everything, the more I researched and detailed what I wanted to do, what I felt the project needed or deserved, I couldn’t see any way to do it for less. It even came up as the minimum amount. I seconded guessed myself constantly. I considered lowering it, literally up until the last moments before launching the campaign (it can’t be changed after launching). But the reasons had been reasoned, the questions had been answered, the project began to take shape even long before the campaign was launched. The studio scheduled me in, even though I didn’t know if I’d get the money. The musicians scheduled me in, knowing the same. It wasn’t the wisest planning on my part, to schedule the studio time just days after the campaign ended. Some preparation time would have been way smarter. But here we are! This is huge. Obviously the biggest thing that’s ever happened in my career, possibly the biggest thing that’s ever happened in my life. This is an extremely wordy way of saying thank you. I’m so excited. Excited to hit the studio but I’m even more excited to show this album to y’all. I just can’t wait for you to hear it. Ok. Enough stalling. The van is packed. I must get on the road. THANK. YOU. More than I could ever explain...thank you! ~Hank |
